All Authority

JESUS SAID
"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." John 14: 13-14

Have you ever given someone your authority?
I have, on occasion, given my kids the direction to...go tell sister or brother, to do this and that, but let them know I said so. They love that, because there's weight in that authority. It's significantly more effective than if my son were to tell my daughter to take out the garbage in his own authority. When my son is able to use my authority, she will listen. However, in the case that he abuses my authority and if my son tells my daughter that mom said, "you have to give me all your money." she will know that my will is not being pursued, but her brothers, and he will find that I won't back him up.

In a similar way we have the authority of Jesus Christ. Not only has Jesus given us the authority to use his name, but he also promises that he will deliver! When we go out in His authority, we will see the results of His will and learn to have confidence in this promise. However, like the story of my children, if we use His name to exact our will and not His, the authority will not hold power.
But in His will, by His name, he promises to back up the action!

Sleep. Depression? Mud.

 What does depression look like?  For me, sometimes it just looks like stepping back and not being the one who makes the joy happen around her.  It gets exhausting to feel like I'm the only person in my world driving the positive.  Do you ever feel like if you just shut your mouth and kept your thoughts to yourself entirely that all the good feelings would slow to a sad mud sinking halt. It does for me. It stops.  For the last 2-3 years, there has been no engine running in my circles that is not operated by me.  I need someone who makes it go when I can't.  Or not. I think I'll go sleep. Sleep is a good place where I don't have to do the going. Sleep.
