It's not all Rainbows and Sunshine. I didn't want to get out of bed today.

This morning I decided not to be trapped by my mood. It’s been a very Lombard streetish couple of months, and the reality and weight of everything has been a bit much this past week. When I woke up, I recognized the signs of a slippery miserable mess on the emotional horizon (stay in bed, watch Netflix, eat pickles, avoid people) and I forced myself to find 3 good things to look forward to, to get up and get dressed, and to exercise. Yes, I get depressed. Yes, I periodically dwell in sadness and fear and stress just like everyone else. Apparently, most people don’t realize that about me, I’m finding that very interesting. Inside Out... I wonder if I think this of others? My husband said something last night that has me thinking on it today. He said, people have a hard time with you being unhappy. I think people can’t believe that you’re less than what they see most of the time. You’re Leah, you’re up and on and exciting and happy.  So, today I am writing down the ins...

So Far: Week 4ish

2 weeks ago we headed into final rehearsal week and then onto tech week on the FARM ! (I must write a post about Charlotte on the Farm...it was a unique and wonderful experience.) So, on Sunday I closed a show with CYT, so the past 2 weeks have been quite active. My wonderful son, still serving at the church during my break, ended up consulting the board on lighting equipment, mixed some recordings, and then enjoyed helping with tech and sound support for the show. My sweet husband also jumped in to help consult on some sound issues, brought his expertise to tech week, aaaand helped strike. Surprise, my family rocks.  So... what Sabbatical? Well, sometimes it’s not about how much you rest, but from what you rest. We’ve had some wonderful times of worship and prayer, and it’s been refreshing to view things from a different perspective. We loved spending a Sunday with my wonderful aunt and seeing Colton serving in his calling with Cornerstone. We enjoy visiting our ch...

So far, so Sabbatical

So far, so sabbatical. Week 1ish, May 1st-10th I had this super cool picture in my head about how I was going to keep a blog update of my time of rest. I definitely planned to share about the amazing restful, biblical, spiritual insight that I already hoped to have experienced... but instead, there’s just been a lot of stumbling and not rest.  However, there have been some really great home things going on during the last 10 days. My house is getting a decent deep cleaning, and tbh that gives me a ridiculous amount of satisfaction. My family has had more sit down dinners in the past 2 weeks than we’ve had in the last 6 months. We’ve successfully finished Sadie’s school year, which is a huge accomplishment. Also, I am totally back on a full time workout routine, and I feel great. So, it's been a bunch of fully awesome homefront goodness. I'm feeling rather Proverbs 31ish, it’s rare.  The "for real though"...is that there have also been some n...
