So far, so Sabbatical
So far, so sabbatical. Week 1ish, May 1st-10th
I had this super cool picture in my head about how I was going to keep a blog update of my time of rest. I definitely planned to share about the amazing restful, biblical, spiritual insight that I already hoped to have experienced... but instead, there’s just been a lot of stumbling and not rest.
However, there have been some really great home things going on during the last 10 days. My house is getting a decent deep cleaning, and tbh that gives me a ridiculous amount of satisfaction. My family has had more sit down dinners in the past 2 weeks than we’ve had in the last 6 months. We’ve successfully finished Sadie’s school year, which is a huge accomplishment. Also, I am totally back on a full time workout routine, and I feel great. So, it's been a bunch of fully awesome homefront goodness. I'm feeling rather Proverbs 31ish, it’s rare.
The "for real though"...is that there have also been some not at all good things going on this week. Yes, there are a lot of dumb things, but I’m choosing to not give that garbage life here. Most blessed though, I laugh eventually at the foolishness, because I am surrounded by my family and friends who are incredibly supportive and encouraging.
But really, my closet reorganization makes me happy. Maybe I’ll just be in there this next week… with a bible, lots of coffee, and without a web able device. Maybe. Or maybe I’ll go have an adventure and when the garbage happens I’ll be bold and shout, “Not today, Satan!” Maybe.
For those of you know that my name means “weary”, and who also know that I reeeally don’t love that fun fact.. look what I found, I was encouraged by this verse today:
John 4: 6 and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about [a]the sixth hour.
The encouragement isn't profound or overly enlightening...it's just that, Jesus was weary. Not everyday, not for nothing, and not as a lifestyle. But even in that uggy thing I don’t like to be known as, He knows it, He knows me. Thank you, Lord for the nugget of “I see you.” I needed that today.
